FabNri exists because the answer to most NRI questions is written down somewhere — in an Act, a regulation or a Master Direction — and almost nobody has the time to find it.

Cited, dated, revisited
Every page names its source and carries the date it was last checked. When the rule moves, the page moves.
How we work
Four rules we hold
ourselves to.

01 We name the source. If a page says something is allowed, it says which rule allows it. You should never have to take our word for it, and neither should your chartered accountant.

02 We do not sell what we explain. Nothing here is written to move you towards a product. Where a choice has a cost, we say what the cost is.

03 We write for the reader, not the search engine. Short pages that answer the question, in the order a person actually asks it.

04 We say when we do not know. Some questions genuinely depend on facts, on a bank’s internal policy, or on an assessing officer’s view. We would rather tell you that than guess.
Independence
We do not distribute financial products. No bank, broker or
developer pays for a mention on this site. If that ever changes, the arrangement
will be named on the page it affects, and it will be kept away from anything
editorial.
What this site loads
There are no adverts, no trackers and no analytics on this site.
Two things leave your browser. On the pages that show an exchange rate — the
globe on the home page, the tools page and the tools that use a rate, and the
page on remittances — your browser
asks Frankfurter
for the day's reference rates, which means that service can see your IP address, as
any website you open can. It is asked once a visit, it is sent nothing about you, and
if you block it the pages work exactly as they do now, without the rate.
And if you send us a question below, what you type goes to Netlify, which hosts
this site, and is checked for spam by Akismet before it reaches us.
